The Impact of HIFU on Fertility
Dr Selva is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and a subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine at the Mahkota Medical Centre in Melaka, Malaysia. He also heads the O&G unit and the IVF Centre at this hospital.
He obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Malaya in 1985. After working in various hospitals in Malaysia and the United Kingdom, he obtained his MRCOG in 1991. He worked as a specialist and later a consultant OBGYN in Johor Bahru. He left the Public service and joined Mahkota Medical Centre in 1994 and has been there since. He obtained his Masters in Reproductive Medicine from the University of Western Sydney in 2003. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, UK in 2003 and a Fellow of the International College of Surgeons in 2003. He also obtained the bachelor of endoscopy from Belgium in 2013.
He was trained in laparoscopic surgery under Prof Soong KY and Dr. Lee Chyi Long at the Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in 1994. He received training in Assisted Reproductive Technique at the King’s College in London in 1997. He started the Mahkota IVF Centre in 1997 and has been performing IVF for the last 19 years.
He is the Past President of the Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of Malaysia. He currently chairs the endoscopic subcommittee and is involved in promoting gynaecological endoscopic surgery in Malaysia. He was Past President of the Asia Pacific Association of Gynaecological Endoscopy (APAGE) in 2014. He was the organizing chairman of the International Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy (ISGE) Congress in Kuala Lumpur in 2004. He has organized numerous workshops in laparoscopic surgery and has also been the preceptor for many laparoscopic surgery workshops in Malaysia. He has also won numerous awards for video presentations in laparoscopic surgery at the Malaysian Congress of O&G.
He is also a board member of the International Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy (ISGE) and a reviewer of the journal of the Asia Pacific Association of Gynaecological Endoscopy (APAGE).
