The Society for Gynaecological Minimally Invasive Surgery Singapore (SGMIS) is a professional organization dedicated to promoting and advancing the practice of minimally invasive gynaecologic surgery. Minimally invasive surgery is now established as the standard of care in many gynaecologic surgeries. New clinical evidence, techniques and instruments continue to evolve. Today, minimally invasive surgery takes the form of laparoscopic surgeries, hysteroscopic surgeries, robotic surgeries, vNOTES and non-invasive therapies like HIFU, radiofrequency ablation and laser assisted surgeries.
Recognizing the growing need for a specialized society to address the unique challenges and opportunities of minimally invasive gynaecologic surgery in line with this shift in surgical practices, SGMIS was founded in 2023 by a group of gynaecologic surgeons in Singapore. The society aims to provide a platform for gynaecologic surgeons to share their experiences, knowledge, and best practices in minimally invasive surgery through conferences, workshops, and publications.
SGMIS is dedicated to promoting and advancing the field of minimally invasive and non-invasive gynaecologic surgery in Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region. By encouraging the sharing of ideas, knowledge, and expertise, as well as providing access to the latest information and techniques in minimally invasive gynaecologic surgery, the society hopes to achieve the ultimate goal of improving patient care and outcomes.
